St. Mary's Health Center is a member of the American Hospital Association, the Catholic Health Association, the Missouri Hospital Association and the Council of Teaching Hospitals of the Association of American Medical Colleges.

Since its opening in 1924, St. Mary's Health Center has continuously expanded, modernized and adjusted to medicine's changing demands, while remaining steadfast in its tradition of high quality patient care and concern for the individual, regardless of a person's religion, race, or ability to pay.

The Health Center's commitment to state-of-the-art care is exemplified by its medical, general surgical and cardiovascular surgical intensive care units; its sophisticated cardiac care services including cardiac catheterization, coronary angioplasty, and open-heart surgery; a high-risk obstetrics treatment center; a sophisticated cancer treatment center; and a comprehensive Rehabilitation Institute.

The Radiology Department performs more than 90,000 procedures a year including angiography, interventional radiographic procedures, high speed spiral  CT scans and magnetic resonance imaging scans. Additional imaging capabilities include a state-of-the-art nuclear medicine department with a full-time director. A fully computerized clinical laboratory under the direction of five full-time pathologists performs more than 190,000 laboratory tests per month.

Additional hospital services with special relevance to St. Mary's housestaff include an IV Therapy team, a laboratory phlebotomy team, arterial blood gas technicians, and EKG technicians.
