Computer stipend: Each incoming Categorical (3 yr.) Resident is provided with a $1000 technology stipend so that they can acquire the computer technology that is now an essential component of high quality patient care and continuing medical education.
Educational stipend: Each resident has access, beginning in the PGY 2 Year, to a $1000 stipend that may be used to attend a major medical meeting or an approved Internal Medicine board review course.
Salary: Competitive stipends are maintained at levels equal to that of other residency programs in the St. Louis area (see insert).
Vacation: First year residents receive three weeks paid vacation. Second and third year residents also receive three weeks.
Insurance: Medical and Dental insurance, including prescription benefits, is available to housestaff and their families. Life Insurance and Disability Insurance are also available to housestaff.
Professional Liability: Malpractice insurance coverage is provided.
Parking: Free parking in a garage at the Health Center is provided.
Meals: A meal allowance is provided to residents, regardless of whether they are on or off duty.
Housing: Residents provide their own housing. Excellent, affordable, and safe housing is readily available in the general area of the Health Center.
Financial Services: Residents may enroll in the Health Center's credit union, which offers checking and savings accounts and provides personal and automobile loans to qualified employees.
Moving Expenses: Residents in the Categotrical Program may apply for reimbursement of some portion of their expenses incurred in relocating to St. Louis.
