House officers spend one-half day a week in either the Health Center's on-site outpatient medical clinic or, with special approval, a private physician's office on our medical center campus. Through these sources, they acquire a group of patients that they follow throughout their residency training. Ambulatory experience is further enhanced during three one month block ambulatory rotations, where residents are assigned full-time to a practicing Internist faculty member who serves as a preceptor, teaching the art and science of outpatient medicine one-on-one.
